Highpoint Health Cardiologists Help Lead National Conversations on Advanced Heart Care

Published Wednesday, October 14, 2026

GALLATIN, TN – Oct. 12, 2026 - When it comes to heart care, patients want to know their doctors are not only experienced but also trusted by other physicians. Two cardiologists caring for patients at Highpoint Health – Sumner with Ascension Saint Thomas recently helped educate heart specialists from across the country, underscoring the level of cardiovascular expertise available close to home in Gallatin.

Dr. Nadia Sutton and Dr. Beau Yawn recently served as faculty members for the Optimizing Peripheral and Cardiac Interventions (OPCI) Nashville Clinical Mastery Summit, a national education program for heart specialists focused on improving the treatment of complex heart disease.

The summit brought together physicians from leading cardiovascular programs across the country to examine complex cases, new approaches and proven techniques for treating heart disease. As faculty members, Dr. Sutton and Dr. Yawn led discussions focused on helping patients recover, stay healthier and reduce future heart risks.

Dr. Sutton also served as a Nashville Chapter Director for the program, guiding educational sessions focused on advanced procedures used to treat blocked arteries, including angioplasty and stent placement.

“The purpose is to improve our techniques, which will result in better long-term clinical outcomes for our patients,” said Dr. Sutton.

For patients, that means access to physicians who are actively involved in advancing heart care, sharing expertise with peers and helping shape conversations around the latest treatments for heart disease.

Dr. Sutton is an interventional cardiologist who practices in Gallatin and serves as an adjunct assistant professor within the Department of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Her work focuses on helping patients achieve better long-term heart health, with a particular interest in healthy vascular aging and improving outcomes for older adults.

Dr. Yawn is a board-certified interventional cardiologist who specializes in advanced heart and vascular procedures, including care for blocked arteries and treatment for circulation problems that can affect a patient's mobility, independence and overall health. He provides care for patients throughout the region.

Their leadership in the program highlights the advanced cardiovascular expertise available through the cardiovascular program at Highpoint Health – Sumner with Ascension Saint Thomas and demonstrates how local heart specialists are helping shape care beyond Middle Tennessee.
