Sumner County Family YMCA to host groundbreaking for a new 3,880 square foot pavilion

Published Friday, March 27, 2026

WHAT:       The Sumner County Family YMCA will host a groundbreaking ceremony Friday, March 27, 9:30 a.m. to celebrate the start of construction on a new pavilion. The project represents a public-private investment with $600,000 secured through a state grant and $1.08 million raised through the center’s capital campaign in support of the development. This exciting expansion is a fitting capstone to a milestone anniversary for the Sumner County Y, which celebrated 25 years of serving the Hendersonville and surrounding communities in December 2025.

The new pavilion has an anticipated completion date of Dec. 31, 2026. Once completed, it will house two buildings – a 1,300 square foot pool house and the 2,580 square foot pavilion space. The expansion will include a gymnasium, check-in and check-out area, restrooms, changing stalls, a snack shack, meditation garden and donor wall. Further, with high demand for camp services in the Sumner County area, the buildout will allow the Y ability to double the size of its summer day camp program from currently 150 youth up to 300.
