Little Free Library Ribbon Cutting

The City of Hendersonville Parks Department, in partnership with the General Jethro Sumner Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Chapter, will be having a ribbon cutting on Thursday, April 1 at11:00 am at Mary’s Magical Place in Veterans Park to celebrate its newest addition, a Little Free Library. This library was donated to the Parks Department by the General Jethro Sumner DAR Chapter as part of its mission of promoting education. Little Free Library is the world’s largest book sharing movement. It functions as a “take a book, leave a book” exchange. The library will offer children’s books for ages birth through age 10. Families are encouraged to take a book home with them to read and enjoy. If you wish to donate to the library, simply leave your gently used book in the library for someone else to share. The Little Free Library is monitored by DAR Stewards, and books are welcomed and always appreciated.

General Jethro Sumner DAR Chapter, together with the Hendersonville Parks and Recreation Department, hopes to spread the love of books and reading to the community with this resource. To keep this movement going, please “take a book and leave a book” whenever possible.  DAR is a non-profit service organization for women who are of lineal descent from an American Revolution patriot.
