Hendersonville Receives Excellence in Local Government Award
The Greater Nashville Regional Council (GNRC) recently announced the recipients of its 2020 Local Government Awards, which honor excellence in public service across Middle Tennessee.
The City of Hendersonville Planning Department was recognized for excellence in land use initiative and received a Local Government Award for its recent Zoning Ordinance Update Initiative.
This is the second consecutive year the Planning Department has received an award from the GNRC.
This award recognizes the Hendersonville Planning Department’s innovative approach to developing its new Zoning Ordinance. While most cities use third-party sources to create such a complex document, the Hendersonville Zoning Ordinance was completely redesigned by Planning, Public Works, and Fire staff, who reviewed the existing document for over a year through work sessions with the Planning Commission and input from retired Planning Director Fred Rogers.
