Debra King Earns Top Social Worker Designation
Tuesday, January 8, 2019 – Hendersonville, TN: Debra King, one of the elder care coordinators at Takacs McGinnis Elder Care Law, PLLC, has earned the Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) designation, firm officials announced today.
LCSW is the top licensing credential for social workers in Tennessee and the nation. Debra is one of just 22 social workers in Sumner County who have achieved this professional designation, which required 1,000 hours of clinical experience involving direct client contact and 100 hours of supervision. The designation allows social workers to practice independently in a variety of settings.
“We applaud Debra for her commitment to her profession and to the seniors she serves,” said Barbara Boone McGinnis, a Certified Elder Law Attorney and one of the partners at Takacs McGinnis Elder Care Law. “Debra is already one of most senior, skilled, and accomplished elder care coordinators in the nation, and this achievement will make it possible for her to provide even more value to our clients and their families.”
As an elder care coordinator, Debra guides elderly clients and their families through the long-term care journey, providing assistance with care coordination, residential transitions, care advocacy, decision-making, and other challenges along the way. She has worked in this capacity at Takacs McGinnis Elder Care Law since 2006. Her previous experience as a discharge planner with a major Nashville hospital gives her a deep understanding of caregiving needs and challenges faced by elders and their families during the long-term care journey.
Debra earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan, and a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Debra also holds a Certificate of Completion from the University of Florida and the Life Care Planning Law Firms Association for the successful completion of a 120-hour Elder Care Coordination course offered by the university.
