Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors Begins Search for new ED

Susan Johnson to Retire; Board of Directors Begins Search for new ED

Dear Friends of Habitat for Humanity of Sumner County,

I have had the privilege of serving on the Habitat for Humanity of Sumner County Board of Directors for the past four years, and as Board President since July 1, 2018. I have also served as a construction volunteer for Habitat for more than a decade. During this time, I have witnessed great progress in so many ways due to the dedication of our staff, our board and all those who generously support our mission in the community, and of course, God's favor and honor.

In October, Susan Johnson, our current Executive Director, notified our Board of Directors of her plan to retire in 2020. This was a difficult decision for Susan but one she felt she was ready to make. Susan’s new retirement journey includes plans to travel, spend time with her family and of course, plans to play a little golf! We wish Susan well with her retirement endeavors.

As the Board of Directors considered our plan and timeline to fill the Executive Director position, we asked ourselves several vital questions about the important traits and background needed in our next leader. Simply put, we feel we need a person who can continue to lead Habitat for Humanity of Sumner County forward and build on those strengths that have brought us success over the past several years. We are searching for someone who is passionate about Habitat’s mission, someone who is well respected and engaged in our community, and someone who is a strong fundraiser and relationship builder. Perhaps you know of a candidate who would be a great fit for Habitat for Humanity of Sumner County? If so, please encourage them to visit our website, HabitatSumnerCounty.org for more details.

God's hand has been clearly present in the success we have realized in serving our community. Our Board feels blessed to have had a person of Susan’s caliber lead our organization for the past seven years. We have no doubt that He has someone ready to step into the Executive Director position. We look forward to searching for that person who is ready and excited to take on this important role and we look forward to the continued success of Habitat for Humanity of Sumner County. We ask for your prayers and support as we begin this important task. Our Board hopes to name a new ED this Spring. Susan's last day will be determined when the position is filled. We will keep you posted on our search.

Warm regards,

Rick Morrison
President, Board of Directors
